EcoCAR UCR Engages Future Highlanders at Highlander Day

EcoCAR UCR had an incredible presence at this year’s Highlander Day, connecting with prospective and admitted students from across the region. With over 15 active team members participating, the event was a strong showcase of the innovation, collaboration, and hands-on experience that defines the EcoCAR program at UC Riverside.

Throughout the day, team members engaged with visitors through both vehicle demonstrations and an interactive tabling experience. Students had the opportunity to learn more about the EcoCAR EV Challenge, explore the technology behind the vehicle, and gain insight into the real-world engineering work happening at UCR.

The energy at the booth was especially exciting, as many admitted students expressed strong interest in joining UC Riverside after learning about EcoCAR, CE-CERT, and the broader engineering opportunities available on campus. Conversations ranged from technical discussions about electric vehicles to the student experience within multidisciplinary teams.

Events like Highlander Day play a key role in showcasing how programs like EcoCAR go beyond the classroom—offering students the chance to work on cutting-edge technology while building valuable skills in teamwork, communication, and innovation.
